Chris started playing music aged 11 in school bands and local brass bands.
Aged 15, after a particularly bad school report and an ultimatum from his father, he joined The Band of the Coldstream Guards, winning the Frank Wright Cornet Competition at the Royal Military School of Music (Kneller Hall) in 1975.
Chris left the Coldstream Guards Band in 1978 to pursue a professional freelance career and, since then, has been involved mostly in the jazz/light music side of the business. In addition to performing, Chris also spent over 10 years as an instrumental teacher, for the London borough of Hounslow, gaining valuable experience, teaching all brass instruments and conducting.
Chris has worked on T.V., Radio and played in various West End musicals including Guys & Dolls (National Theatre), Starlight Express (Victoria Apollo) and Jesus Christ Superstar (Palace Theatre).
Over the last 13 years Chris has been running his own bands - The Bogus Blues Brothers, Boogie Heights (70's disco/soul), Stealing Dan and Don (Steely Dan tribute) and Polished Brass (Brass Ensemble playing Jazz and Light Classical).
These bands play mostly Chris's own arrangements and have worked at many prestigious venues in Britain, Europe and the US.
